Christopher Brown, who formerly wrote under the name Chris Nakashima-Brown, is an American science fiction author.

His stories frequently focus on issues at the nexus of technology, politics, and economics and often fit within the literary subgenre sometimes denominated avant-pop—"pulp fiction for smart people", in the words of the author, answering questions such as "Whatever happened to the guest appearance of Jorge Luis Borges on The Love Boat?" or "What if Beltway psychological warfare operatives co-opted Saddam's Frazetta-dealer?". His short fiction and criticism has been published in a variety of anthologies and online markets, including "The Sun Also Explodes", a short story from the 2008 Philip K. Dick Award nominee anthology Fast Forward 2, and "The Bunker of the Tikriti", a short story from the World Fantasy Award–nominated Cross Plains Universe: Texans Celebrate Robert E. Howard. He was a 2013 World Fantasy Award nominee for the anthology he co-edited, Three Messages and a Warning: Contemporary Mexican Short Stories of the Fantastic.

His first novel, Tropic of Kansas, is forthcoming in 2017 from Harper-Voyager.

Brown lives in Austin, Texas, where he is a member of the Turkey City Writer's Workshop and also practices technology law.
