Christianity is a minority in Nigerian Kano State, where Sharia is valid. The conflict between religions in Nigeria takes place in the state, too. Since 2006, even Christian schoolgirls of private schools have to wear the veil. Churches and villages in the state have been torn down after the 2011 presidential election. About 3000 Christians died due to sectarian violence in and around Kano in 2004. All Christian church services were forbidden in 2003.
