History

It was founded in January 1981,the founding pastor was Pastor Dr. Cortez Cooper. In its founding date about 1,000 people was gather to found the church. In the spring of 1981 the congregation joined the PCA. The church purchased property, the first worship service was held in the new building took place in May, 1984. In 2004, CPC called Dr. Ray Ortlund as Senior Pastor. Dr. Ortlund is highly regarded as a Biblical scholar, theologian, prolific writer and teacher. Ray served us as Senior Pastor until February 2007. In July 2007, Dr. Wilson Benton came out of retirement to become the interim Senior Pastor. Interestingly, Dr. Benton served as senior pastor of Kirk of the Hills PCA in St. Louis for over twenty years, and at his retirement, the interim Senior Pastor there was CPC’s first Pastor, Cortez Cooper! It sponsors the Christ Presbyterian Academy since its founding in 1985. The congregation planted several PCA churches in the Nashville community.

The current senior pastor is Rev. Scott Sauls. He was accepted to be the senior pastor on January 2012, and before he was pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church (New York City).

Theology

It adheres to the Nicene Creed, the Apostles Creed and Westminster Confession.

Location

The congregation is a member of the Nashville Presbytery of the PCA. The church building is located at 2323 Old Hickory Blvd. Nashville, Tennessee.
