Alexandre Magno Abrão (April 9, 1970 – March 6, 2013), better known by his stage name Chorão, was a Brazilian musician, songwriter and poet. He was the lead singer and co-founder of the band Charlie Brown Jr.

History

Abrão was born in Tremembé, a district in the Northeast Zone of São Paulo. In 1987, at the age of 17, he moved to Santos, on the São Paulo coast, after a difficult and traumatic childhood. He got his stage name "Chorão" ("cry-baby") from his early childhood nickname. In 1992, he founded the band Charlie Brown Jr. Chorão also ventured into other areas: on November 6, 2006, the musician opened the "Chorão Skate Park" in Santos, a place for skateboarders and musicians, that became one of the best rinks in Brazil. In 2007, the singer ventured into cinema with the film "O Magnata," in which he was the writer and screenwriter. He also acts in the movie, and Charlie Brown Jr. songs are featured in the soundtrack .
He was married twice and had a son, Alexandre (born 1990), with his first wife.
Death

Chorão was found dead by his driver on the morning of March 6, 2013, at his apartment in São Paulo. According to the police, who initially dismissed the possibility of homicide, the apartment was in great disarray, with empty bottles of liquor, drug packaging and bloodstains.
On April 5, 2013 police released a report confirming that Chorão died due to a cocaine overdose.
