Chionanthus polygamus grows as a tree up to 30 metres (100 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 40 centimetres (16 in). The bark is grey. The flowers are yellow green or creamy white. The specific epithet polygamus is from the Latin, referring to the tree having both unisexual and bisexual flowers. Habitat is forests from sea-level to 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) altitude. C. polygamus is found in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and New Guinea.
