Chionanthus pluriflorus grows as a tree up to 60 metres (200 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 60 centimetres (24 in). The bark is greenish. The flowers are yellow or yellowish green. Fruit is green, ellipsoid, up to 2.6 centimetres (1 in) long. The specific epithet pluriflorus is from the Latin meaning "many-flowered". Habitat is mixed dipterocarp forest, often by rivers or in swamps, from sea-level to 1,500 metres (5,000 ft) altitude. C. pluriflorus is endemic to Borneo.
