The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is one of the three major foreign affairs organizations of the People's Republic of China. It aims to promote friendship and mutual understanding between the Chinese people and foreign nations.

The organisation was founded in May 1954. Its current chairperson is Li Xiaolin, daughter of Li Xiannian, former President of China.

    History

    The People's Republic of China was founded on October 1, 1949. Aware that State to State relations must first be based on friendship and on cultural, sporting and economic exchanges, China created in 1954 an organization which will be later known as the “Chinese people Association for friendship with foreign countries (CPAFFC) ”.

    60th anniversary

    On May 2014, China celebrated the 60th anniversary of its public diplomacy. The Association has invited 350 participants from around the world, and 300 personalities from the Chinese political, economic and cultural fields. The celebrations lasted 3 days, with a meeting at the National Popular Assembly with a long address by President XI Jinping, the inauguration of a Public Diplomacy Museum, the presentation of an upcoming broadcast of 8 documentaries, the publication of a book and the edition of a stamp. A special gala evening with 600 invitees was filmed and will be broadcast on national television channels. To mark the event, 9 foreign people were chosen to represent the friendly exchanges of the sixties years of Chinese public diplomacy: 1.
