The China Media Centre is a research centre located at the University of Westminster and Europe’s only organisation specializing in the world’s largest media system. Launched on 17 June 2005 by the BBC’s Jeremy Paxman and Sun Yusheng, Deputy President of China Central Television, it comprises a team of researchers, led by Professor Hugo de Burgh, Director of the China Media Centre with expertise in:

  • Chinese media policy
  • Professionalism in media management
  • New media
  • Journalism in Chinese society and polity
  • Television programming
  • Magazine publishing
  • Modern Chinese cultural change
  • Located within the School of Media, Arts and Design, CMC is a focal point for MA students who come from China to take media courses, as well as Visiting Lecturers and Researchers. There is an MA module The Chinese Media in the New World Order and a new BA module in Journalism with Chinese.
