Charmz is a four-piece girl band from Australia. They were put together by Mattel and Shock Records to help promote the release of The Barbie Diaries, a film which features Barbie in a band called Charmz. It was created through a singing contest for 8- to 14-year-old girls who had to send in a video of themselves singing. The winners from around 500 entrants were 13-year-olds Gianna Dalla-Vecchia, Paris Maggs and Lauren Stowe and 14-year-old Shannon Cordes. They were taken to Sydney to recorded their album and while there they were mentored by Ricki-Lee. Their self titled album, containing covers of songs by Robbie Williams, Bananarama, Gwen Stefani, Ricki-Lee, The Mamas & Papas, Hilary & Haylie Duff. and was released on October 28, 2006. The single, "This Is Me", peaked at #57 on the ARIA singles chart
