Channel 8 is a digital television channel owned and operated by RS Public Company Limited that broadcasts entertainment, foreign TV series, and sports. It was first launched as a free-to-air satellite channel on January 5, 2011 and is available on both C and KU bands. Channel 8 broadcasts many popular events such as HBO World Championship Boxing plus numerous domestic and self-produced programs.

History

Channel 8 started broadcasting on a satellite platform in December 2010 before officially launching as a 24-hour free-to-air television channel on January 5th, 2011.

On the 17th of August 2013, Channel 8 was upgraded to HD using BT350 million for upgrading its production and broadcasting equipment. Its HD channel was broadcast on Thaicom 6.

In December 2013, RS won a license to broadcast Channel 8 on the digital terrestrial television platform in the Variety SD category.

Channel 8 officially launched its digital TV channel in May 2014.

Programming

Channel 8 aired both Thai and foreign dramas. Many foreign series are Korean, added with Thai dramas which are self-produced. Its flagship sports content is Boxing. Channel 8 aired boxing programs from HBO and UFC, in addition to its own producing boxing programs.
