Cephalopholis taeniops is a species of grouper that occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. The common length is 40 cm (maximum size 70 cm). It lives in the Eastern Atlantic: Western Sahara to Angola, including Cape Verde and the São Tomé and Príncipe islands; also recorded from the Mediterranean.
