The Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science. It was established by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in 1990. The centre is headed by director Prof. Stephen Machin (economist). The CEP studies the determinants of economic performance at the level of the company, the nation and the global economy by focusing on the major links between globalisation, technology and institutions (above all the educational system and the labour market) and their impact on productivity, inequality, employment, stability, and wellbeing.

Each programme runs a series of related projects addressing key issues, set out under the Programme of Work 2010-2015.
The CEP publishes discussion papers under each of these programmes; as well as briefings, analyses - including the upcoming Election Analyses series covering the 2015 UK General Election - and CentrePiece magazine - a thrice yearly publication summarizing the CEP's latest research.
