The Center for an Urban Future is an American public policy think tank based in Manhattan, a borough of New York City in the United States. It was developed from City Limits Magazine and was founded in 1996. The Center describes itself as "dedicated to improving the overall health of New York City" with a focus towards the problems of low-income and working-class neighborhoods. It is sometimes considered a centrist alternative to the Manhattan Institute. In November 2009, the corporate parent of the center, City Futures, Inc., announced a spin-off of City Limits Magazine and website to the Community Service Society of New York, leaving the nonpartisan think tank independent of the more liberal magazine.
