Catorex is a Swiss watch manufacture started in 1858 by Constant Cattin, in Les Breuleux in the canton of Jura in Switzerland.
History
In the early 19th Century, Georges Ignace Cattin started manufacturing pocket watches with cabinotiers in the canton of Jura, Switzerland. In 1858, Georges’son, Constant Cattin established a company Cattin, as a specialized manufacturer of pocket watch. In early 20th Century, its pocket watch was adopted as an official pocket watch for Swiss National Railways. In 1958, at the 100th anniversary of the business, the company name and brand were changed to Catorex, which was registered as a trade mark. Catorex manufactured a small number of watches during 1960-70s, and then focused on the manufacturing of pocket watches, which had been generally declining in production in the industry. The firm announced at Baselworld a limited edition of 499 pieces for a new world collection produced as an homage for the history of its own company. It has been developing “Catorex 1858 Collection” since 2011.
