The Roman Catholic Church in Costa Rica is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. There are approximately 3.2 million Catholics in Costa Rica - 76% of the total population. The country is divided into eight dioceses and one archdiocese:

  • Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San José de Costa Rica
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of Alajuela
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of Cartago
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad Quesada
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of Limón
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of Puntarenas
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of San Isidro de El General
  • Roman Catholic Diocese of Tilarán
