Catephia alchymista, the white underwing, is a species of moth in the Erebidae family. The species is found in Southern and Central Europe up to the Caucasus.

The wingspan is 35–45 millimetres (1.4–1.8 in). The moths are on wing from May to July and sometimes again in August/September.

The larvae feed on Quercus species.
