Carsen Leigh Gray was born in 1991 in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, and moved to Haida Gwaii at eight years old. At eleven years old, Gray had a minor role in her only film, Peter Pan, as Princess Tiger Lily. She received a Young Artist (Young Artist Award) nomination for her supporting role, acting as a First Nations person who spoke in Mohawk. In real life, Gray is fluent in English, French, and Haida. For audition for the film, she sang in the Haida language and was assisted by the casting director Matt Casella. By 2004 she was in restaurants singing blues and jazz at Rossini in Vancouver, Canada.
