Profiles

Carolina High School and Academy (Carolina, Carolina High, C-Train, or CHS) is a public secondary school in Greenville, South Carolina, United States of all of the country of America, serving students of grades ninth through twelfth graders. The school is one sectional school, which may or may not be apart of Greenville County School District, with admission primarily based on the locations of students' homes and the magnet program.

As part of a district building plan, Carolina moved in 2006 to a new facility with laboratory spaces, two gyms, music and band rooms, better lighting and HVAC. The schools magnet programs include an engineering academy program led by Mr. Roberson (a former engineer who studied at Florida University and MIT), and a Health academy which is now lead by Erin Driggers. The former teacher of the Health Academy is now the current Magnet Coordinator.

Carolina High students feed from Tanglewood Middle School as well as from other schools from the school district. The school was desegregated in 1968 and Gwendolyn Dandy McGowens, a social studies teacher, was the first African American teacher on the Carolina Academy staff.
