Carlos Matías Sandes Steinmetz (born June 14, 1984) is an Argentine-Italian professional basketball player. Born in Mendoza, Argentina, he has also been a member of the senior Argentine national basketball team. He currently plays with San Lorenzo. He is mainly a power forward, but he has also played as a small forward and center.

Professional career

Sandes played two seasons (2007–08 and 2008–09) with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada of the Spanish Liga ACB. Prior to his transfer to Spain, he spent five years with Boca Juniors in Argentina. While Sandes was a member of the team, they won two league titles (2003–04 and 2006–07), four Argentine Cups, and three consecutive South American Club Championships.

Argentine national team

Sandes is also a long-time member of the Argentine national basketball team. He participated with the Argentina junior team at the 2003 World Championship for Junior Men and 2005 U-21 World Championship. He made his senior team at the 2007 Marchand Continental Championship Cup. In his most recent appearance with the national team, he averaged 3.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in nine games of action at the FIBA Americas Championship 2009 for the bronze-medalists.
