Carlos Ascanio

Carlos Ascanio (1918–1988) was a former baseball player for the New York Black Yankees of the Negro Leagues. He was nicknamed the earth quake, and played first base. Ascanio was the only Venezuelan to play in the Negro Leagues which he did in 1946. He was found unconscious on a sidewalk and could not be saved. He died three weeks later. He died destitute and starving.
