Capoeta damascina, the Levantine scraper, is a species of cyprinid fish from the Near East region. It is reported from Iraq, Israel, Jordania, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. There are controversial views whether it is or is not found in Iran.
It is a bottom fish, about 30 cm long, and it lives in lakes as well as both fast and slow-moving streams, and both in clear and muddy waters. It is said to be tasteless.
