California Proposition 69 (2004)

California Proposition 69, the DNA Initiative, was a successful 2004 California ballot proposition that allows for the collection of DNA samples from all felons and from people who have been arrested for certain crimes. As of 2009, all adults arrested for or charged with any felony in California must provide a sample for inclusion in the database.

California currently maintains the third largest DNA database in the world.
