Cachiros is a Honduran drug cartel and criminal organization. It was founded in the early 1990s by a group of cattle-ranchers in the Olancho-Colón departments of Honduras.
In January 2015, Cachiros leader Javier Maradiaga, also known as "Javier Cachiro", turned himself in to the U.S. Embassy in Honduras and plead guilty to drug trafficking charges in trial. Honduran officials seized between $500 million to $800 million following Javier's actions, though the Cachiros are believed to have a net worth of over $1 billion.
