CRL-40,940 (also known as flmodafinil, bisfluoromodafinil and lauflumide) is a selective dopaminergic reuptake inhibitor, and is the bisfluoro analog of the wakefulness-promoting agent (or eugeroic) modafinil and has been sold online as a designer drug. Its inventors claim that it is more effective than modafinil and adrafinil in their indications with fewer side effects, and was patented in 2013. Phase I clinical trials have been underway since December 2015.
