CKBD-FM

CKBD-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 98.1 FM in Lethbridge, Alberta. The station currently broadcasts a Modern adult contemporary format branded on-air as 98.1 The Bridge.

The station was formerly owned by Golden West Broadcasting, but was sold to Clear Sky Radio.

History

CKBD-FM first went on the air as a Christian radio station adopting its first callsign letters CJTS-FM originally broadcasting at 97.1 FM, the station at the time was known as “Spirit FM”. The station was previously owned & operated by Terry Robert Fleming. It received license approval from the CRTC in 2000, and moved to its current frequency at 98.1 FM and changed to its CKVN callsign in 2007.

On July 31, 2014, the CRTC approved the sale of the station to Clear Sky Radio. The new owners of the station took over operations on September 1, 2014. In addition, the station adopted its current callsign. The station relaunched as 98.1 The Bridge with Mayor Chris Spearman doing the honors on September 22, 2014 playing Imagine Dragons song "It's Time" as their first song.

On February 1, 2017, CKBD-FM switched to a modern adult contemporary format and adopted their new slogan "Modern Hit music" but kept the station's branding.
