CFM is an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting to Cumbria and South West Scotland, with transmitters in Carlisle, Penrith and West Cumbria. Its musical output is popular hits of many genres, with the occasional selection of today's hits. The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's City 1 network of stations.

History
The station was launched by its original owners, Border Television at 8am on 14 April 1993 when Managing Director and Breakfast show host John Myers played "The Best" by Tina Turner as its first song.
Originally CFM only broadcast from their Caldbeck mast to Carlisle on 96.4 and Penrith, from the top of Beacon Hill, on 102.5. In September 1995, they also started transmitting to West Cumbria from their transmitters at Broughton Moor and Whitehaven. The frequencies for the West Coast are 102.2 (Workington and Cockermouth) and 103.4 (Whitehaven).
From its launch, the station broadcast from premises adjacent to the ITV Border studios in Durranhill, Carlisle. In April 2010, CFM moved to a new base at Atlantic House in Kingstown, Carlisle.
In 2005, Emap bought CFM and branded it as one of its Big City Network of stations. Three years later, Emap was bought by Bauer, who have retained ownership of the station.
Previously, CFM has won numerous industry awards including the Radio Academy's North West Station of the Year 2005 and Emap Station of the Year 2006. In May 2013, CFM became the first radio station to broadcast from a nuclear reprocessing site at Sellafield, West Cumbria.
Programming
Local programming is produced and broadcast from CFM's Carlisle studios from 6am-2pm and 3-7pm on weekdays, 2-6pm on Saturdays and 12-4pm on Sundays.
CFM also airs networked programming from sister station Key 103 in Manchester via the Bauer City 1 network. The Vodafone Big Top 40 is syndicated from Global Radio at its Capital studios in London for broadcast on over 145 commercial radio stations across the UK.
The station's local presenters include Robbie Dee (weekday breakfast), Pete Moss and Andy Gregory (Home Run).
The station's national network presenters include Paddy McGuinness, Darryl Morris, Dave Kelly, Jack Wood, Kelly Pegg, Marvin Humes, Simon Morykin, Wes Butters and So Wright.
News
CFM broadcasts local news bulletins hourly from 6am to 7pm on weekdays, from 7am to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Headlines are broadcast on the half hour during weekday breakfast and drivetime shows, alongside sport and traffic bulletins.
National bulletins from Sky News Radio are carried overnight with bespoke networked bulletins on weekend afternoons from Key 103's Manchester newsroom.
