CETIS is an acronym used to refer to a United Kingdom non-profit organisation that specialises in education technology innovation and adoption, The Centre for Educational Technology, Interoperability and Standards. CETIS (formerly "JISC CETIS", or more recently just "Cetis") provides strategic, technical and pedagogical advice on educational technology, interoperability, and "open standards". Its "customers" are education and training funding bodies, standards agencies, governments, education institutions and commercial partners; both in the UK and in other English speaking domains. In its field, CETIS has been active in the development and implementation of open standards, and in developing and promoting the adoption of technology and standards for course advertising, open education resources, assessment, and student data management; opening new markets and creating opportunities for innovation.

Jisc CETIS History

For over a decade, ending in summer 2013, Jisc CETIS was an Innovation Support Centre, providing support to the Jisc innovation team and Jisc projects on the strategic, technical and pedagogical implications of educational technology and standards. CETIS also represented Jisc on international standardisation initiatives. The Centre supported the wider educational community by organising meetings, workshops and conferences and provided daily comment and analysis on current developments in educational technology.
