Buried Country is a highly regarded documentary film, book and soundtrack album and now also a stageshow as well. It is a prosopography, created by noted writer Clinton Walker, that tells the story of Australian country music in the Aboriginal community by focussing on the genre's most important stars.

The book Buried Country: The Story of Aboriginal Country Music, written by Clinton Walker, was originally published by Pluto Press in 2000; the Film Australia documentary was directed by Andy Nehl, narrated by Kev Carmody, written by Clinton Walker and shot by Warwick Thornton. Film Australia has produced a study guide.

The 2000 2-CD set Buried Country: Original Film Soundtrack (Larrikin Records) was produced by Clinton Walker, showcasing 45 classic and rare tracks featured in the book and film.

In 2015, the book was re-published in a new updated edition by Verse Chorus Press, and the 2-CD album set was also re-released in a new rebooted version called Buried Country 1.5. As a consequence of the success of this rebirth, Buried Country has now been mounted as a touring stageshow adaptation that made its premiere at the Playhouse in Newcastle in August, 2016, starring many of the surviving elders of the tradition plus a younger generation of singers and songwriters as well, and is currently appearing on the festival circuit throughout Australia.
