Bukavac ([bǔːkaʋat͡s]) is a demonic mythical creature in Slavic mythology. Belief in it existed in Srem.

Bukavac was sometimes imagined as a six-legged monster with gnarled horns, slimy skin and long tail. It lives in water (rivers, swamps and creeks) and comes out of it during the night to make a loud noise (hence the name: buka - noise), and it will jump on people and animals and try to strangle them.
