Buddleja 'Valbud 3' (Lo & Behold series, selling name Lilac Chip) is a complex dwarf hybrid cultivar derived from a crossing of 'Blue Chip' and 'Miss Molly' in 2005 by Dr Dennis Werner and Layne Snelling at the Sandhills Research Station, Jackson Springs, North Carolina. [1]

Description

In trials at Sandhills, Lilac Chip grew to a height and spread of 40 and 75 cm respectively after two years. The foliage is very dense, while the inflorescences are typical of buddleja, comprising fragrant violet flowers. [2]

Cultivation

Lilac Chip is marketed exclusively by Spring Meadow Nursery Inc., Grand Haven, Michigan. The shrub is cultivated in North America and Europe. Hardiness: USDA zones 5–7.
