Buddleja 'Podaras16', selling name Flutterby Petite Pink, is one of the series of sterile hybrid cultivars raised by Peter Podaras whilst at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and patented in 2011. Flutterby Petite Pink was derived from a crossing of an unnamed selection of B. davidii with an unknown selection of the same species. [1]

Description

Flutterby Petite Pink makes a medium-sized shrub with a rounded, upright habit, growing to a maximum of 1.5 × 1.5 m, with dense compound terminal and axillary panicles about 7.8 cm long by 5.2 cm wide, comprising around 250 faintly fragrant light purple-violet flowers. The flowers emerge in spring and persist until the first frosts of the fall. The opposite, elliptical to lanceolate leaves are about 9.2 cm long by 3 cm wide, pubescent above and below. [2] [3]

Cultivation

Flutterby Petite Pink is not known (2013) to be in cultivation beyond the USA. The shrub is reputedly hardy to - 29° C. [4]
