Buddleja 'Podaras10', selling name Flutterby Petite Dark Pink, is a sterile hybrid cultivar raised by Peter Podaras whilst at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and patented in 2011. Flutterby Petite Dark Pink was derived from the crossing of two unnamed B. davidii × B. alternifolia hybrids.

Description

Flutterby Petite Dark Pink makes a small shrub with a broad, outwardly-spreading habit creating a wide, inverted triangle shape. Growing to a maximum of 1.2 × 1.5 m, the shrub bears compound terminal and axillary panicles about 9 cm long by 3 cm wide, comprising around 115 faintly fragrant dark-violet flowers. The flowers emerge in spring and persist until the first frosts of the fall. The opposite, narrowly elliptical dark green leaves are very small, about 5.2 cm long by 1.5 cm wide, pubescent above and below. [1]

Cultivation

Flutterby Petite Dark Pink was introduced to Europe in 2012 by Plantipp, Netherlands, as part of the Free Petite series. The shrub is reputedly hardy to - 29° C., USDA zone 5 - 10.
