The Buck Baker Racing School was founded by two time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Buck Baker in 1980. Buck Baker Racing School was the first of its kind. Today, Buck Baker's Seat Time Racing School, still follows the curriculum set by Buck Baker to teach young racers and giving them a place to learn and practice their driving techniques that will be used on race day.
Vehicles used in the school are actual NASCAR Sprint Cup Ford, Chevy and Dodge race cars which have previously competed in their respective series. Each car weighs approximately 3,400 lb (1,500 kg) and includes 358 cubic-inch engines with close to 630 horsepower (470 kW). The school was the first of its kind to use CD-ROM camera/data acquisition technology in each car. Buck Baker's Seat Time Racing School has updated the in car camera system, now using a REPLAY in car camera with an SD card. Seven different tracks will be used for the school in 2016:
