Brian Shortall (born 28 May 1985) is an Irish footballer who plays for UCD in the League of Ireland First Division.

UCD
After spending his entire schoolboy days with Cherry Orchard, Shortall began his senior career with UCD in 2004 on a sports scholarship. With UCD he won the 2004 Dr. Tony O'Neill Under-21 League before making his senior League of Ireland debut with UCD on the opening game of the 2005 season against Shelbourne. Following UCD's relegation from the Premier Division in 2008, Shortall and UCD made an instant return to the top flight by winning the 2009 First Division title. Shortall was named in the PFAI's First Division Team of the Year for that season.
St. Patrick's Athletic
Following a final season with UCD for the 2010 Premier Division campaign, Shortall departed UCD after 7 seasons to join St. Patrick's Athletic who were under the management of his former UCD boss Pete Mahon. His versatility playing anywhere across the defence saw Shortall make 41 appearances in all competitions including starting in all 6 of St. Patrick's Athletic's UEFA Europa League matches. Shortall captained the Pats side that won the Leinster Senior Cup. Shortall was one of 19 St. Patrick's Athletic players who departed the club after the 2011 season.
Shelbourne
Shortall joined newly promoted Premier Division club Shelbourne on 3 January 2012 for the 2012 campaign.
