History
Boys' Latin opened 2007 with 144 students scheduled for graduation in the year of 2011. After initially being denied a charter by the School Reform Commission, Yass and Hardy lead a petition drive leading to the SRC's decision to grant a charter in 2007. Boy's Latin is the first and only single gender charter school in Philadelphia.
Facility
Boys' Latin of Philadelphia was temporarily housed in modules that had only seven classrooms during the 2007-2008 academic year. The following year they moved into a newly renovated school building with the capacity for 600 students.
Curriculum
Boy's Latin offers a standard high school curriculum with major strengths in Latin and western humanities. Graduating seniors are required to complete an independent senior project. Students are required to complete yearly community service.
