Bottrop – Recklinghausen III

Bottrop – Recklinghausen III is one of the 299 single member constituencies (German: Wahlkreis) used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. It is one of sixty four electoral districts in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The constituency elects one representative under the mixed member proportional representation (MMP) system. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 119. The constituency is made up of the cities of Bottrop, Gladbeck and Dorsten.

The constituency was created for the 2002 election, replacing Bottrop – Recklinghausen IV, which had existed since 1980. Like its predecessor, it has been won by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) at every election since its creation. The current representative is Michael Gerdes, who was first elected at the 2009 election
