Bootsie Books are the creation of author Mike James who currently lives in Perth, Western Australia. Mike was inspired to write the books when his son Connor was diagnosed with brain cancer (Medulloblastoma) in April 2007 aged seven. Mike awoke one night with the idea of Bootsie whilst laying next to Connor in Princess Margaret Hospital where Connor was being treated. Each book is one year in Bootsie's life and they carry on until his final year in secondary school (high school).
There are eight books in the series.
