Bodhram Dubey

Bodhram Dubey was the eldest son of Sri. Sobharam Dubey. His grandfather Sri Loknath Dubey was a close associate of Veer Surendra Sai,the revolutionary who fought against British government and achieved marty down.Sri Bodhram Dubey was born in the year 1894 and passed his matriculation examination from CSB Zilla School, Sambalpur. After Graduating From Ravenshaw College he post graduated with First class in Mathematics from Calcutta University. He also obtained his law degree there.

There after he started his practice as an advocate in Sambalpur BAR, And picked up a lucrative practice. He took active part in Freedom Movement and was an active member of Congress Party. He became the member of first congress ministry from 1937 to 1939. He was in charge of Education under the premiership of late Bishwanath Das till 4th Nov, 1939.

His Ministry Introduced the basis system of Education as per the recommendation of Zakir Hussain Committee and the committee constituted by the central advisory board of education (CABE). This was meant to encourage the spirit of self-help in young children in Orissa. Under his tenure as an education minister, the number of students in primary school rose from 279924 to 2869201 and that of secondary school from 30427 to 34587.

The ministry eventually resigned on 3 September against the arbitrary decision of India joining in World War II without even consulting the congress party. Subsequently, sri Dubey became a member of Rajya Sabha. He also served as to standing councillor of odisha government. He was a true freedom fighter, a great nationalist and tremendous zeal for meaningful education. Many members of his family subsequently became highly educated and served as judges, Advocates, Bureaucratputs to Govt of Odisha, officers,doctors, Principal of Law College, Engineers after reading in his house.
