Bleecker Street was founded in August 2014 by CEO Andrew Karpen, former Co-CEO of Focus Features.

Bleecker Street has an output distribution deal with Shivani Rawat’s ShivHans Pictures, the producer of its first theatrical release Danny Collins, starring Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, and Christopher Plummer, as well as Trumbo, starring Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren and Diane Lane, and Captain Fantastic, starring Viggo Mortensen.

They've also released the Gavin Hood's drone thriller Eye in the Sky, starring Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman and Aaron Paul, Sean Ellis’s drama Anthropoid, starring Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan, Mick Jackson’s drama Denial, starring Rachel Weisz and Tom Wilkinson, Jim Jarmusch's Paterson, starring Adam Driver, and Mark Pellington’s dramedy The Last Word, starring Shirley MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried. Awards and accolades

Bleecker Street received an Academy Award for Best Actor nomination for Bryan Cranston in Trumbo as well as Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for Bryan Cranston, and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Helen Mirren. The Golden Globes also nominated Trumbo for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for Bryan Cranston, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Helen Mirren, Danny Collins for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for Al Pacino, Captain Fantastic for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for Viggo Mortensen.
