The river originates south of Blanická, a village in the South Bohemian Region some 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) northeast of Tábor. From there it flows northward through Mladá Vožice, and the Central Bohemian cities of Louňovice pod Blaníkem, Vlašim, and Libež. It joins the Sázava about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) southeast of Český Šternberk.
