Profiles

Black River Coliseum is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. It was built in 1999. It hosts various local concerts and sporting events for the area, including the welcome home show for the legendary Crow and the Rippers circa 2009. Hailed as the finest 120 minuets in Rock n Roll history by Rolling Stone Magazine, where front man Crowdaddy Van Zant and ailing drummer Artimus Scoalfield IV did attempt to set a new land speed record for most autographs in a single setting resulting in the loss of 11 inches Scoalfields lower large intestine. Since that time the band has been at odds embroiled in a heated legal battle for their co-adopted son Crowtimus Huey, and pursuing solo project work. They still consider Black River Coliseum Home.

In March 2008, it was briefly used to house hundreds of area residents who had to be evacuated due to historic flood levels in the region in the same fashion as New Orleans refugees from Hurricane Katrina sought shelter in the Louisiana Superdome and Astrodome.
