Bill Cooper (born 16 December 1987) is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre-forward for the Cork senior team.

Contents

Born in Youghal, County Cork, Cooper first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-two when he first linked up with the Cork intermediate team. He made his senior debut during the 2011 National Hurling League. Since then Cooper has been on and off at the team at various times, and has won one Munster medal.

At club level Cooper is a one-time Munster medallist in the intermediate grade with Youghal. In addition to this he has also won one championship medal.

Club

In 2013 Cooper was captain of the Youghal team that faced Castlelyons in the final of the intermediate championship. In a low-scoring game that was no classic and had twnety-two wides, Youghal fought back from three points down with seven minutes left to win the game by 0-11 to 0-10. Coopers' side subsequently reached the provincial decider, with Ballina providing the opposition. Both teams were reduced to fourteen players in the second half, however, Youghal held on to a three-point advantage in the dying minutes to claim a 2-13 to 2-10 victory. The victory gave Cooper a Munster medal.

Inter-county

Cooper first made his name on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork intermediate team in 2010. He won his first Munster medal that year following a 0-15 to 0-13 defeat of Waterford. Cooper later lined out in the All-Ireland decider, however, Kilkenny were the winners on that occasion by 2-17 to 1-13.

His performances for the intermediate team brought Cooper to the attentions of the senior selectors. He made his senior debut in a National Hurling League game against Tipperary in 2011 and made his championship debut later that same year when he was named at midfield in an All-Ireland qualifiers game against Laois. Cooper scored 1-3 in that game in a 10-20 to 1-13 rout
