History

Big Wow was formed in 1996 by guitarist John Cline, drummer Christopher Shooper, bass player Alex and winger Wendy “Dirty” Goldberg (from the Indiana punk band Pizzle). After the death by suicide of singer Wendy “Dirty” Goldberg in Spring of 1996, Big Wow remained a three piece unit receiving positive reviews from local press.

They released their first single, "Music Saves", on Big Wow's label Leisure Productions, Ltd. in 1998, with the single "Savage Garden" recorded at Groovemaster Recording Studios and engineered by Johnny K. This was released again in June 2007 following an appearance at the semi-finals of the Emergenza Music Festival featuring the addition of “Imagine” (original engineering by Matt Talbott, Hum, 2002, at Great Western Recorders). Big Wow released two more EPs in 2008, “Dead Songs” and “One” (Leisure Productions, Ltd., recorded at Strobe Studios, Chicago).

"Imagine" has also been used as background music in a commercial (2006) for independent messenger bag maker Chicago Wig.
