Big Three (Greece)

The Big Three (Greek: Το μεγάλο τρεις) is the nickname of the three most successful sports clubs in Greece. The football teams of AEK Athens F.C., Olympiacos F.C. and Panathinaikos F.C. have a great rivalry, and are usually the main contenders for the title. Combined they share a total of 74 out of 80 Greek Football Championships ever played and generally end up sharing the top three positions. None of them have been relegated from the Superleague either, since promotion to the top flight.

Several other clubs outside the big three have won the Greek league, with Aris F.C. having the fourth most national titles behind the big three with 3 in total. Today, the chief competitors of the three are PAOK FC, AEL FC and Panionios F.C..
