The Biblioteca universale sacro-profana (1701–07) is an unfinished encyclopedia from the early 18th century, published in Italian by the Franciscan friar Vincenzo Coronelli.
It was one of the first universal encyclopedias in a European vernacular language with entries arranged alphabetically. It was planned to contain 45 volumes, but only 7 volumes appeared, reaching the letter C.
The Biblioteca universale is a bibliophilic rarity today. Few European libraries have the complete set of volumes. Exceptionally, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, in Paris, has a complete set.
