Hyeyeon, UJi and Haeryung originally debuted in AB Entertainment's girl group EXID. With EXID, they released their debut single "Holla" ("Whoz That Girl"). The three members promoted with the group for about two months, then ultimately took their leave for personal reasons. Member Haeryung started acting at a young age: her first roles were in the television series Sharp and Magic Kid Masuri at age 10. In spring 2013, she played the role of Park Hyung-sik's girlfriend in the tvN drama Nine: Nine Time Travels.
