The Best Outdoor Sportsman ESPY Award was presented annually from 2002 to 2005 to the outdoor sportsperson, irrespective of gender or specific sport contested, adjudged to be the best in a given calendar year of those contesting the outdoor individual sports—understood as those related to outdoor recreation and nature-based occupation, including sport fishing, most especially of bass, and lumberjacking, most especially the logrolling, wood chopping, and high-climbing disciplines thereof—on an amateur or professional level primarily in the United States or Canada. The award was partially replaced in 2006 by the Best Angler ESPY Award.

Between 2002 and 2004, the award voting panel comprised variously fans; sportswriters and broadcasters, sports executives, and retired sportspersons, termed collectively experts; and ESPN personalities, but balloting in 2005 was undertaken exclusively by fans over the Internet from amongst choices selected by the ESPN Select Nominating Committee. The ESPY Awards ceremony is conducted was June and awards conferred reflected performance and achievement over the twelve months previous to presentation.
