Berwari is the name of a Kurdish tribe in South Kurdistan. The Berwari are divided into two main branches, the Berwari Bala and the Berwari Jeri. Each tribe lives in 75 villages. In 1971 most of their villages were destroyed by the Baathist party. Many Berwari subsequently emigrated to Iran, Turkey, the United States and European countries.

Notable members

Nisrin Barwari, Iraqi minister of development and construction, is a prominent Berwari.
