Bernt Stoylen

Bernt Støylen (17 February 1858 – 18 November 1937) was a Norwegian Lutheran bishop and psalmist.

Støylen was born in Sande in Møre og Romsdal. He graduated in theology from the University of Oslo in 1885. He served as a priest of the Norwegian Church Abroad at Cardiff in England in 1890. He later taught at the Theological Seminary at the University of Oslo. Støylen served as bishop of the Diocese of Agder from 1914 to 1930. He published a series of readers for primary school, Lesebok for folkeskulen, from 1908 to 1911. He was co-editor of the hymnal Nynorsk salmebok together with Peter Hognestad and Anders Hovden.

He was the father of Lutheran Bishop Kaare Støylen. He died in Bærum in 1937.
