Belligavi is a small historical place located in Shimoga district, Karnataka state, India. It is known for splendid archeological stone sculptured temples with thousands of years of history. These stone sculptured temples were built by famous sculptor Amarashilpi Jakanachari. This also is the birthplace of Vachana writer Allama Prabhu. The queen Shaantala Devi the wife of emperor Vishnuvardhana of Hoysala Dynasty hailed from this historical place. Belligavi is now a town.
